ST GEORGE’S, Grenada (GIS) — The Grenada government will be placing emphasis on growing the number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Grenada.
The government has decided to set aside a sum of money targeting SMEs because of the problem of limited financing that these types of businesses face.
“We want to see more businesses come on stream and be successful, so together we can grow the economy” said minister for economic development, trade, planning and co-operatives, Oliver Joseph, speaking at the recent launch of the Business Support Center.
Joseph said that government cannot provide all the jobs, but will work with the private sector and individuals to provide incentives and create employment.
Joseph is looking forward to the assistance that will be provided by the Business Support Center to small businesses in particular. He said, it is through private sector growth, the country will develop.
“This center will go a long way in ensuring that businesses perform, create jobs and remain in operation,” Joseph said.
The Business Support Center boasts of being client focused, results driven, and one that can ensure clients understand the fundamental rules of business.
