VAT on Coffins Removed

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA Monday, December 31, 2012: Further to the announcement in the 2012 National Budget Address, the Ministry of Finance, after several consultations with the various funeral agents, has come to an agreement on the removal of VAT on coffins.

Effective January 1st 2013, VAT on coffins will be removed. This will be done by zero rating all coffins whether purchased locally or imported. This change only applies to coffins. It does not apply to caskets.

The Division is reminding businesses and consumers to pay particular attention to this change.

All are also reminded of the importance to remain tax compliant and adhere to the requirements of the VAT Act.
